New direct Cardiff to Edinburgh train service launches December 15

CrossCountry is set to introduce the first-ever direct train service connecting Cardiff and Edinburgh on December 15.

This 455-mile route will connect 22 stations across Wales, England, and Scotland, providing a seamless journey between the Welsh and Scottish capitals.

The service will operate as part of CrossCountry’s twice-yearly timetable change, using long-distance Voyager trains.

In the morning, trains departing from Cardiff and Penzance will meet at Birmingham New Street before continuing together to Edinburgh.

On the southbound journey, the train will split at Gloucester, with one section proceeding to Cardiff and the other terminating at Plymouth.

This direct route will run once daily in each direction on weekdays only, offering a convenient travel option for long-distance passengers.
