Bute Park
Location: City Centre
About: If you live in the centre of Cardiff and fancy a city centre walk then Bute Park is perfect! You can take a short walk around the Park or Llandaff Fields or a take a picnic and take a longer stroll along the riverside. There are some areas, such as sports sites and cafes in the park which dogs should be kept on leads and this is clearly indicated around the park.

Cardiff Bay Barage
Location: Cardiff Bay
About: This is a stunning walk however more suitable for dogs that are happy to stay on the lead. Here you can enjoy the up and coming development of Cardiff Bay whilst relaxing with water views from every direction. The barrage itself offers a great opportunity to give your pooch some time to run free. Cardiff Bay is a great place for a gentle stroll, sightseeing and to perch up for lunch too.

Tredegar House
Location: Newport
About: Tredegar House is an iconic 17th century home that’s part of the National Trust scheme. Dogs aren’t allowed to explore the house itself, but they are allowed into the gloriously maintained gardens on-lead. But the surrounding parkland is where the real fun begins, as it’s free and open for our four-legged friends to frolic and explore. With its expanse of grass, woodland areas and lake, it’s no wonder this is a popular dog walking spot!

Cefn Onn Park
Location: Cardiff
About: It’s a short walk around the park with wooded areas for dogs to explore. There are also plenty of paths leading off onto other trails for the more adventurous walker and his dog. There are on lead and off lead areas for dogs so you will need to adhere to the signs and wardens working in the park. You should definitely visit this park at least once a month so you can see how it changes.

Roath Park
Location: Roath
About: With a path that wraps around the entire lake, it’s a popular walking spot amongst dog owners. There is plenty of thriving wildlife around the lake, beautiful flowers and smells in the wild gardens and fun to be had on the recreation grounds. Dogs do need to be kept on leads around the park however with playing fields attached, you can finish up with a game of fetch to let your little fury friend stretch their paws.

Heath Park
Location: Cardiff
About: A great variety of wooded areas, ponds and wetland making it a great habitat for a wide variety of wildlife. This place is a playground for dogs of all types and every trip you make here you are sure to find many other fury friends running around! There are lovely big fields to throw a ball on, woods to sniff around in and even a pond to take a dip in.
