Easy Cocktails to Make From Home

A night out with friends and family is among one of the first things we will want to do when we get out of lockdown. But why not bring the cocktails to your home and enjoy a drink or two there for now? Here are a variety of tasty cocktails you can whip up yourself for a fraction of the price!

A favourite on any cocktail menu!

Ingredients:

• 200ml of cranberry juice
• 100ml of orange juice
• 75ml of vodka
• 75ml of peach schnapps.

How to make it:

  1. Mix together all these ingredients in a glass (use a shaker if you can).
  2. Pour into a glass and enjoy!
Pina Colada

Pina Colada

The coconut one, as many would call it. If you haven't tried a homemade Piña Colada before, you're in for a tropical treat. 

Ingredients:

• 50ml of white rum
• 25ml of coconut cream
• 25ml of single cream
• 200ml of pineapple juice.

How to make it:

  1. Mix together all of the ingredients (again, use a shaker if you've got one!)
  2. Serve over ice.
  3. If you want to cheat, you can save buying the first 3 ingredients and use Malibu!

A Wetherspoons favourite usually, but now you can make it at home as well as make it a whole lot cheaper.

Ingredients:

• 25ml of peach schnapps
• 25ml of vodka
• 50ml of cranberry juice.

How to make it:

  1. Mix the Vodka and Peach Schnapps together.
  2. Then add the cranberry juice and enjoy!
Mojito

Mojito

Mojitos have risen in popularity recently. Best of all, they're very simple to make too.

Ingredients:

•  Half a lime (cut into 4 pieces)
•  5 fresh mint leaves
•  Tablespoon of sugar
•  50ml golden rum (Captain Morgan's spiced or Havana Club should do)
•  Soda water
•  Handful of strawberries or raspberries (optional, but it gives an extra burst of flavour).

How to make it:

  1. Put the lime, mint leaves, sugar and berries if you’re using them, into a glass and mash them together with any utensil in the kitchen.
  2. Then, add the rum and top it up with soda water and stir!
Long Island Ice Tea

Long Island Ice Tea

Perhaps one of the most alcoholic cocktails out there, so take great care with the Long Island Iced Tea.

Ingredients:

• 25ml of light rum
• 25ml of vodka
• 25ml of gin
• 25ml of tequila
• 25ml of lime juice
• Coke

How to make it:

  1. Mix all the alcohol together, along with the lime juice.
  2. Pour it into a glass over ice.
  3. Then top it up with coke and enjoy!
Tequila Sunrise

Tequila Sunrise

Zingy, refreshing and a pretty cool colour to spice up your evenings!

Ingredients:

• 50ml of tequila
• 25ml of grenadine
• 175ml of orange juice.

How to make it:

  1. Mix the tequila and orange juice together.
  2. Pour into a glass over ice.
  3. Then slowly pour in the grenadine, allowing it to settle at the bottom to make it look like a sunrise.
Strawberry Daquiri

The strawberry daquiri cocktail is a favourite of many who go out day drinking, now you can try and replicate it at home!

Ingredients:

  • 6 cups ice
  • 1/2 cup white sugar
  • 4 ounces frozen strawberries
  • 1/8 cup lime juice
  • 1/2 cup lemon juice
  • 3/4 cup rum
  • 1/4 cup lemon-lime flavoured carbonated beverage

How to make it:

  1. In a blender, combine ice, sugar and strawberries.
  2. Pour in lime juice, lemon juice, rum and lemon-lime soda. Blend until smooth.
  3. Then pour into glasses, serve and enjoy!
Espresso Martini

Learn how to make this classic coffee cocktail. Here is an easy recipe which uses freshly brewed espresso and a dash of coffee liqueur!

  • Ice
  • 100ml Vodka
  • 50ml Coffee liqueur 
  • 50ml fresh coffee
  • Coffee beans (for decoration)

How to make it:

  1. Combine vodka, coffee liqueur, cream, and crushed ice in a cocktail shaker.
  2. Shake vigorously to chill.
  3. Then pour into martini glasses, serve and enjoy!
